Turns and real-time blasts share one grid, and Nova-111 is the hybrid where a step is a turn until a bomb is live. An armed blast resolves in real time even though the step that triggered it was a turn.
Moving, bumping an alien, and waiting all spend the timeline, but an explosion resolves in real time across the tiles. The scientist's crash site has to be escaped by using that mix rather than by aiming a free cursor.
Bombs that resolve in real time also reached the successor console in 2015 alongside the hybrid grid. A hasty step can walk into a blast that the previous turn armed.
