History

Joanna Dark takes rare gadgets into Perfect Dark, Rare's spy shooter and follow-up to GoldenEye. The Farsight rifle can see through walls, and a laptop gun unfolds into a turret that holds a hallway.

Bots called simulants fill custom matches, and a counter-operative mode lets a second player inhabit the campaign's enemies. Carrington Institute missions sit beside that match setup, with objectives closer to a spy checklist than a straight corridor.

It was the studio's last big first-person game of the Nintendo 64 era, released in 2000 already. GoldenEye's split-screen parties are the ancestor, while Joanna's gadgets and the counter-operative slot are this cartridge's own tricks.
