History

Los Angeles refuses a loading screen between spots in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Neversoft set the 2005 skate game in that city and linked its skate areas into one continuous map, so a manual can carry a combo out of one district and into the next.

Hollywood, the downtown hills, and a makeshift park share one story about a skater new to town. Classic mode still offers the two-minute score attack when the story goals are not the session you wanted.

Earlier Hawk games had been a menu of levels. The wasteland's trick is the joined-up city, and the bail that happens when the manual between neighborhoods fails.
