History

Apocalypse's machines are the dungeons in X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. Raven Software's squad action role-playing game, published by Activision in 2005, is the sequel to X-Men Legends, built for up to four mutants at once.

Skill trees, a shared loot pile, and a mutant power that has to combo with a teammate's power are the systems. The villain in the title is the campaign's end, with the Age of Apocalypse tone coloring the zones.

The first Legends game had already proved a comic team could loot like an action role-playing party. This sequel raises Apocalypse and keeps the four-player couches.
