Rare parked a garage between Mickey and the checkered flag in Mickey's Racing Adventure. Nintendo and Disney share the 1999 Game Boy Color release with Rare, and the kart improves because a hub of minigames pays out parts. An engine or a set of tires from those errands changes the launch, so a bare chassis is not the car you want on the grid.
One side challenge may be a short chase, another a timing test, always inside a Disney setting and always with hardware as the prize. Bolt the part on, then line up against the rest of the cast. Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and the others take their own cars, which keeps every rival inside that stable.
Ignore the hub and the kart stays slow, because Rare tied speed to the errand before the event. The circuit repeats as a side challenge, a new piece of the car, then a race. The scenery changes, and the reason to enter it is whichever part is still missing.
Mario's kart games seat a different cast for a different purpose. This adventure earns its pace in minigames, then spends it on Disney drivers and Rare's own feel for a handheld race.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
