A sun meter charges the chain in Puyo Puyo SUN. Compile's 1997 puzzle keeps the colored-blob clears and adds that meter, which powers up a well-timed pop.
Arle still drops the blobs, and a group of the same color vanishes when it touches a matching neighbor. The sun sits over the well as a resource the earlier Puyo games did not hang there.
Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color both received the sunny rules. Garbage sent to an opponent still depends on the size of the chain, only now the meter can amplify it.
