A shovel replaces the usual sword, and Shovel Knight is Yacht Club Games' Kickstarter homage that treats that tool as a primary weapon. The shovel drop bounces off a slime and up to a relic ledge a normal jump would miss.
The drop bounce stomps foes and springs the knight toward relics hidden in side rooms. Shield Knight and the Enchantress frame a campaign that looks like an old cartridge and plays like a modern treasure map.
The 2014 launch included the successor console, the glasses-free handheld, and computers. Order of no-quarter rivals each guard a stage with a relic worth backtracking for.
