Qualifying matches, not a finished World Cup bracket, structure FIFA '98: Road to World Cup. EA themed the soccer annual around the road to the tournament and shipped that edition in 1997.
National teams fight through the qualifying groups the later knockout tournament assumes are already decided. The '98 in the name points at the finals; the cartridge's modes spend their time getting there.
Indoor stadiums and the usual EA pass meter still decide a goal. The campaign's prize is a place in the finals, which a plain exhibition friendly never tracks.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
None in this catalog yet.
No wider family is grouped for this title beyond the series list.
