Occupied Manhattan is the map in Freedom Fighters, IO Interactive's 2003 shooter about a Soviet-held New York. Christopher Stone moves from a plumber's day job into a resistance, and charisma spent on squad orders recruits more fighters as the flags change.
The GameCube received a port of that squad campaign. A fountain you capture is a spawn and a symbol, and the alternate history is the whole premise: the Cold War did not end the way the real one did.
Stone's voice on a pirated broadcast is how the city tips. The cube port is that uprising, borough by borough, not a historical documentary of the real Manhattan.
