History

Mega-City One's lawman books perps between firefights in Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death, Rebellion's 2003 clash with the Dark Judges. Judge Death and his undead colleagues are the threat, and the 2000 AD comic's tone shows up whenever a citizen can be sentenced instead of only shot.

The Lawgiver's fire modes cover the shooting, while the arrest system covers the satire. A perp who survives can be booked, and that bookkeeping is a score, not a cutscene you can skip without losing something.

The cube release is that city shift. Dredd versus Death is the plot; the booking computer is the mechanic that makes it feel like the comic.
