History

Captain Olimar has until sunset in Pikmin. The Hocotate Freight pilot, crashed with the S.S. Dolphin, directs red, yellow, and blue plant-animals to carry ship parts before the day's light ends.

Nintendo released that first rescue on GameCube in 2001. The Onion spits the squad out again at dawn. A hard day limit means an unfinished bridge is abandoned at dusk, and the next morning starts from the Onion rather than from a mid-combat save.

Nintendo later gathered this crash and its sequel in a Switch collection. That package is a different listing; the sunset countdown and the Dolphin's missing parts belong to the GameCube original.
