History

A party of adventurers you name enters a first-person maze in The Dark Spire, built in the Wizardry tradition. Success developed it, and Atlus published the United States release in 2009. A wireframe option can strip the walls down to lines.

You assign classes and step tile by tile. The maze does not illustrate itself the way a hand-drawn chart would. Encounters arrive in first person, and a bad fight can end the delve.

Wizardry is the ancestor: grid, darkness, and a party that can fail. Etrian Odyssey is a different series, one in which you sketch the map yourself. This tower is not that sketchbook.

Atlus brought Success's maze to American shelves. The names you type are the only identities the adventurers have. The wireframe view is optional for players who want the older line-drawn look.
