Skateboards and thrown axes carry Master Higgins in Adventure Island (1986), Hudson's Famicom game based on Sega's Wonder Boy. Fruit keeps a hunger timer at bay, and the skateboard turns a flat stretch into a faster risk.
The licensed arcade design supplies the axes and the board. Hudson's hero wears the island setting, but the skeleton of the run is the Wonder Boy cabinet it was drawn from.
A missed fruit or a dropped axe changes the next screen more than a higher score would. Higgins's name is the Hudson dressing on that licensed chase toward the captured girl.
