Midway's cross-country dash in Cruis'n USA (1996) is the racer Nintendo also shipped on the Nintendo 64 near that console's launch. The arcade cabinet came before the home cart, with landmarks rolling past a windshield at a rising speed.
Checkpoints gate the next state, and a crash is a brief crunch rather than a wreck that ends the trip. The home version keeps that coast-to-coast idea, reduced to what a cartridge could draw.
It is a launch-window companion to the new hardware, not a simulation of real touring-car rules. The cabinet's route and the early Nintendo 64 release are the same race in two buildings.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
