History

X Games dirt and a side-view trick line meet in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, Acclaim's 2000 debut built around the real rider and other pro BMX names. The home versions on PlayStation and Dreamcast are 3D park sessions; the color handheld cart is a smaller profile view, not that 3D game squeezed until it fit.

Manuals, grinds, and a clock still decide a run on the small screen. Mirra's name sits on the box because the license, not a fictional mascot, was the draw in that skate-and-bike season.

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is the sequel, with a larger roster and new parks on the home consoles. The first cart, especially the flat handheld edition, is the one that introduced the rider before the follow-up arrived.
