Food warnings from a narrator announce a dying hero in Gauntlet (1985), Ed Logg's four-player dungeon for Atari Games. Wizard, Valkyrie, Warrior, and Elf each shoot or swing in a different pattern, and the voice names who is about to fall.
Generators keep spawning grunts until they are destroyed. The "needs food" bark is as famous as the potion or the key, because health is a constant tax.
Logg's cabinet is the original four-class maze. The NES cart carries those classes and that narrator's warning, adapted from the arcade dungeon.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
