A lone gunman walks up the street in Gun.Smoke, Capcom's Western where the shots fan in several directions. Bandits step out of doorways while the bounty hunter keeps moving toward the top of the screen.
The 1985 coin-op built that upward march and the multi-way fire. Wagons, rooftops, and named outlaws break the walk into a series of showdowns.
An NES conversion later kept the same cowboy premise and the same up-the-screen aim. It is that Western shooter brought home, still about one gun and several directions of fire.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
