History

Towns and creature stacks fill New World Computing's Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest, the first Heroes game. A Game Boy Color version arrived years later, and the computer original dates to 1995.

A hero rides an adventure map, claims mines, and leads peasants or dragons into a hex fight. Each town alignment builds dwellings that produce those stacks.

The computer campaign is the original strategic quest. The Game Boy Color edition is a much later, smaller adaptation of that hero-and-town loop.
