History

Captain Price's regiment restarts the series in the present in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward's 2007 break from the World War II campaigns. Soap MacTavish's training mission hands you to Price, and an early sniper chapter in Pripyat, All Ghillied Up, became the mission people quoted.

A motion-console port came later, and the dual-screen version is a separate campaign. The main story still runs through the Middle East and a civil war, with the AC-130 sequence as the moment the scale jumps.

The reboot is this present-day war, not the later games that reused the Modern Warfare name. The handheld campaign is its own set of missions under that famous title.
