Mark Turmell's two-on-two at Midway is NBA Jam (1994), the basketball game where a hot streak sets a player on fire. Arcades came first, and the home versions became a major hit in 1993.
Turbo into a dunk from beyond the lane is the spectacle, and the announcer shouts once the streak holds. Shoving a defender out of the air is legal, which is why a match feels like a brawl that happens to own a hoop.
Super Nintendo and Game Boy editions carried that announcer and the flaming head. The cabinet is where the phrase landed first, and the home carts spread the same two-on-two rules.
