Hershel Layton and Luke Triton take a puzzle hunt to St. Mystere in Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Level-5 and Nintendo's 2007 game is the first Layton adventure in the DS line, and Nintendo published it in the West.
Villagers hand over riddles about a golden apple, a tower, and a robot secret under the streets. Hint coins buy a nudge when a sliding puzzle or a logic grid stalls the gentleman and his apprentice.
Later Layton cases assume this village already happened. The western DS line starts here, with Nintendo as the publisher outside Japan.
