You live as a parent and later as that parent's child in Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon. Neverland developed the generation shift, and Natsume published it in the United States in 2008. Farm work and dungeon floors share the same days.
The first generation tills, befriends the town, and delves. After the story turns, control passes to the child, who inherits the fields and a further plot. The child is the second half of this game, not a bonus file.
Seeds, seasons, and monster-filled caves are the daily mix. A failed crop costs the season. A bad floor costs the afternoon and the supplies you carried in.
Rune Factory 4 is a later entry with another hero and another town. Neverland's second game is the parent-and-child tale. The child's tools and the parent's unfinished fields are the handoff between those halves.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
The series list above is the whole family set in this catalog.
