History

Rare built LJN's Game Boy release The Amazing Spider-Man (1990) as a side-scroller of wall climbs and street fights. It is the first handheld Spider-Man, separate from later Super Nintendo and PlayStation games.

A web line between buildings and a punch for a sidewalk thug share the same short stages. Doctor Octopus can close a level on a screen far smaller than those later consoles.

The Super Nintendo and PlayStation Spider-Man productions came afterward as different games. This Rare and LJN cartridge is the pocket debut.
