History

Gondor's war gets an original party in The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, EA's 2004 role-playing game with turn-based battles running beside the film trilogy. The fellowship's journey is the news in the background, while your company fights its own battles from the Shire's shadow toward Mordor.

Turns, spells, and a party that is not Aragorn's are the structure. Film locations still appear, so Minas Tirith and the bigger war are visible without being the party you control.

EA's side party is the campaign. The films supply the timeline; the turn order supplies the fighting.
