Traveller's Tales tied a robot-and-vehicle switch to the first Michael Bay film, and Transformers: The Game includes living-room and handheld versions of that idea. A city street is a road while the hero is a vehicle and a weapon range once the body unfolds.
Autobots and Decepticons each get missions, so Optimus and the opposing camp both tear up city streets. Changing to a car or a jet is the travel move, then the body unfolds back into a fight.
The 2007 tie-in keeps that transformation as the verb between battles. The two Nintendo builds are their own layouts, not a shrink of every high-definition street.
