History

Manfred Trenz's run-and-gun Turrican debuted on the Commodore 64 and the Amiga, famous for a transforming wheel. A Game Boy port followed the computer original, which arrived in 1990.

The hero curls into a wheel that rolls under spikes, then stands to fire a spread of shots. A long beam and a mine round out the arsenal on those large computer maps.

The wheel is the move players cite when they name Trenz's game. The Game Boy port carries that curl-and-shoot onto a smaller screen.
