History

Sparse scenery is the point of F-Zero X. Cylinder tracks leave almost no shoulder to recover on. Tracks loop through open air, the machine count is huge, and the frame rate stays high enough that a jump feels instant.

Nintendo placed this Nintendo 64 chapter in 1998, between the SNES original and F-Zero GX on GameCube. Captain Falcon is one machine among a wide grid, and a wipeout still throws the pilot back onto the ribbon with little scenery to hide the line.

Mute City and the big-name cups reward memorizing a jump rather than admiring a skyline. Silence around the track, more than billboards, is what the eye gets at that speed.
