Plastic drums and a family setlist define Lego Rock Band. Harmonix and Traveller's Tales aimed the 2009 game at younger players, and the DS edition is a simpler rhythm game than the console instruments.
Console sessions expect guitars, drums, and a microphone on licensed songs with brick characters on stage. The DS edition drops that instrument rig for a simpler handheld rhythm game with the same brick-band theme.
Studios, venues, and the kid-friendly roster are the console toy. The DS cart keeps the name without the living-room drum kit.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
