History

Tallon IV is a ruined planet you scan rather than sprint through in Metroid Prime, Retro Studios' first-person debut for Samus. Nintendo published that 2002 exploration, and the scan visor turns creatures, lore, and locks into entries the suit can read.

The Varia and Gravity suits reopen rooms the starting gear could only look at, which is how Chozo ruins and Phazon mines become one map. Meta Ridley waits in the crater story, and the Frigate Orpheon is the cold open that teaches the visor.

A Wii edition later reissued the same investigation. Metroid Prime Remastered on Nintendo Switch is a separate record, not a replacement for this one.

Retro's debut is the scan, the suits, and Tallon IV. Later prime sequels changed planets; the ruined one with the visor is this campaign.
