History

Alphonse Loeher, a knight of the Lodis empire, is sent into a war on the island of Ovis in Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, the Game Boy Advance campaign Quest created, with Atlus publishing the English edition of that 2001 tale. Battles sit on an angled overhead grid where facing, height, and who can still act decide a skirmish. Class changes let a survivor study a new discipline after enough combat, so a spearman need not stay a spearman.

The campaign is a side story, separate from Let Us Cling Together and the struggle on Valeria. Noble houses on Ovis treat every truce as a pause between betrayals, and the knights caught in the middle have to decide which order to obey. A sour political choice can change who is still willing to fight in the next deployment.

Equipment and a class path belong to each character rather than to one avatar. Holding the high tiles and keeping a healer inside range matters as much as the printed attack number. A blocked lane can waste a spellcaster for a whole turn.

Quest designed the marches and the talk between them, and Atlus carried that script to English-speaking players. Clearing a map usually means protecting the units a later chapter still needs, rather than sprinting at the enemy leader.
