Django's solar gun reads a real light sensor seated in the cartridge of Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand. Konami released the Game Boy Advance game in 2003 as a Kojima production. Sunlight in the room charges the weapon, and a dim corner leaves the shots too thin for the work.
Vampires and other immortals are what he hunts. The gun is how a boss is finished and how a sealing has the power to hold, so closing the curtains is a way to make the dungeon harder on purpose. Otenko, a messenger of the sun, walks the crypts with him.
The sensor is not a slider buried in a menu. Angle the cartridge toward the light and the solar meter climbs; stay in shade and the beam starves. Konami built stealth, coffins, and gunfire around that physical reading.
Calling it a Kojima production points at the way the strange hardware and the vampire plot were designed together. The hunt gives the solar gun a reason to exist. Without sun on the sensor, Django is still in the dungeon and simply less able to end what lives there.
