History

Konami sent a Contra commando onto the Game Boy in 1991 and named the American cartridge Operation C. Europe sold that same game as Probotector, continuing the regional habit of presenting the lead as a robot. Side-view runs alternate with overhead rooms where the gun can point in several directions, and the spread shot is the pickup that clears a crowd.

A sideways corridor is the familiar dash, jump, and stream of fire. An overhead floor turns the soldier into a figure seen from above, threading lanes of bullets across open ground. Aliens and the widening gun keep the feel inside the Contra series, while the stage order belongs to this handheld cartridge alone.

Players in Japan meet it under the Contra title. All three names are official Konami releases of one compact campaign. The European robot presentation changes the body on the box more than it changes the act of shooting through a mixed set of views.

The NES Contra is a longer, separate mission list. Nothing here reprints that run onto a small screen. You take the commando through both camera angles, chase the spread shot, and finish the route Konami laid out for the handheld.
