History

Before the Mana series carried that name, Final Fantasy Adventure was Square's Game Boy action role-playing game, released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu. The Western box from 1991 borrows the Final Fantasy name while the hero's sword grows with the road.

A button swings the weapon in real time, and a companion met early changes how a cave puzzle resolves. The sacred tree at the center of the Mana legend waits at the end of that walk.

Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo is the later, larger sequel. This Game Boy quest is the first Seiken Densetsu story, wearing a Final Fantasy title in the West.
