History

An ensemble casts magic against an empire in Final Fantasy VI, and the second half lets the player choose who walks point. Terra's magic, Magitek armor, and Kefka's cruelty set the first half, then the World of Ruin scatters the cast.

Square's story does not stay with one swordsman. Celes, Locke, and the rest can lead after the catastrophe, which is the structural break the blurb is pointing at.

North America first knew this Super Nintendo game as Final Fantasy III. The 1994 Japanese numbering is the sixth, and the American box used a different count for the same opera, the same empire, and the same ruined world.
