Data East's club-swinging pair is Joe & Mac, also known as Caveman Ninja, a dinosaur brawl from the 1991 arcades. They smash through pterodactyls and rolling boulders while cavewomen wait to be rescued.
Clubs, thrown stones, and a roast are the tools, and a dinosaur is often the platform as well as the threat. Two players can batter the same prehistoric stage side by side.
The Super Nintendo version became the best-known home edition. NES and Game Boy releases sit beside it, but the living-room reputation belongs to those Super Nintendo clubs and dinosaurs.
