History

Capcom sent a lone fighter called the Super Ace over the Pacific in 1942, the first of the studio's wartime 19XX shooters. The plane loops to dodge, and the view scrolls vertically through waves of enemy aircraft.

That arcade sortie dates to 1984, with a small set of power-ups that widen the Super Ace's guns. Formations and a short fuel-like tension keep each stage brief and repeatable.

The NES port keeps the looping Super Ace and the same vertical scroll. It does not rebuild the Pacific run as a side-view campaign.
