History

A run button and cybernetic ninjas arrive with Mortal Kombat 3, Midway's arcade lineup that lets fighters dash. Cyrax and Sektor bring the metal masks, and the run changes the spacing of the older spear-and-freeze game.

Midway put that cabinet out in 1995, with the cyber ninjas and the dash as the mechanical news. Shao Kahn's invasion is the story the roster is built to serve.

Home editions, including the Super Nintendo one, followed that cabinet. The run button and the cyber bodies are what this entry adds on top of the earlier tournaments.
