History

Spencer Mansion is rebuilt from the ground up in Resident Evil (2002), the remake Shinji Mikami directed for Capcom. The new construction replaces the 1996 house with defense items, crimson-head corpses that rise again, and a tighter map of locked doors.

Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield still search the halls for their missing team, and Lisa Trevor's story sits in the bones of the estate. A later motion-console edition reissued that same remake rather than returning to the older camera angles.

The cube original is the full rebuild. Players who knew only the 1996 doors meet a harsher mansion, with ink ribbons still limiting how often a typewriter can save them.
