History

Leaning out of cover is the shot in Winback: Covert Operations. Omega Force and Koei built the 1999 third-person shooter around that peek, years before cover buttons became common.

A laser sight overheats if the trigger stays down. Corridors are designed as slices of wall, so a stand-up charge is how a life ends.

The hero's mission is a rescue under fire, not an open desert. The lean is the mechanic the later cover shooters would be compared against.
