Marian's loss sends Billy and Jimmy Lee back into the gang in Double Dragon II: The Revenge, and the NES edition rebuilds that plot with its own stages. Technos had already told the revenge in arcades before the home cart rearranged the rooms.
New moves and new alleys mean an arcade pattern does not solve the NES climb. The brothers still punch, kick, and throw, but the layout is a home design.
The arcade version arrived in 1988, and the NES board followed with its own revenge geography. Billy, Jimmy, and Marian's absence are the story, told twice in two different sets of rooms.
