History

Metal blades from Metal Man answer whole rooms in Mega Man 2, where eight robot masters can be challenged in any order. Their weapons answer one another, so a stage that looks impossible becomes simple after the right boss falls.

Capcom's NES chapter is the Mega Man most players mean when they talk about the series. Crash Man, Flash Man, and the rest form a loop of weaknesses, and Dr. Wily's castle follows the eight.

The game arrived in 1988 with that free order already the structure. The metal blade and the chosen route are the reasons this chapter became the reference point.
