History

Mr. X stands in for the usual villain in Mega Man 6 (1993), and Rush adapters fuse with the hero before the mask comes off. Capcom closes the original NES run with those fused forms, a jet and a power suit built from Rush.

The tournament excuse lets new robot masters appear under Mr. X's banner. Late in the game the alias gives way to the villain players already expect.

The fusion adapters are the new support trick, different from simply calling Rush as a separate pet. This is the last of the original NES robot-master line, with Mr. X as the late-game disguise.
