History

Armor capsules and a dash move Mega Man into a faster future in Mega Man X, where a wall jump replaces the older ladder habit. Zero fights beside him, Sigma commands the Mavericks, and Dr. Light's hidden tanks upgrade the armor.

Capcom opened the X series on the Super Nintendo with that speed. The dash and the wall cling change every corridor that a classic robot-master stage would have walked.

The game arrived in 1993 and stays separate from the numbered NES Mega Man line. Sigma's revolt and Zero's saber belong to this future, not to Dr. Wily's earlier gauntlet.
