Rush the dog joins the support gear in Mega Man 3 (1990), and Proto Man takes a role in the story beyond a distant whistle. Rush Coil, Rush Jet, and Rush Marine change how a pit or a water stretch is crossed.
Capcom's new gear sits under the usual robot-master weapons. A coil spring, a flight, or a marine form is chosen before the hazard, which the first two games solved with the arm cannon alone.
Proto Man's appearances tie the stages together as a plot, not only a boss list. The dog and that rival are what set this NES chapter apart from the opening pair.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
