History

Dragonback combat is the whole of DragonStrike, SSI's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons flyer about fighting other dragons from the saddle. Breath, a lance, and the rider's aim replace a party marching on foot.

The computer original laid out that aerial duel first. In 1990 the design already existed on machines with keyboards before any console board was considered.

The NES edition shrinks the same dragonback idea into a smaller adaptation. It keeps the mounted fight and drops much of the computer game's wider campaign.
