Unova, two years later, continues in Pokemon White 2, the paired sequel to White. Game Freak and Nintendo share that timeline with Black 2, and this is the other DS sequel from 2012.
New leads, a changed map of the same region, and a story that assumes the first Unova crisis already happened separate it from White. It is not a third version of the 2010 pair and not a swapped legendary of the first games.
Black 2 tells the matching two-years-later quest with its own exclusives. White 2 is the other half of that sequel pair.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
