Dinosaur Planet was the project before Fox McCloud inherited it, and the finished game is Star Fox Adventures. Rare's 2002 adventure recast that dinosaur story around the Star Fox pilot, with a staff in his hands more often than an Arwing.
Prince Tricky, a triceratops child, and Krystal join a quest of puzzles, combat, and a limited stretch of flying. The SharpClaw and a broken-up world of dinosaurs are the enemies and the map, leftovers of the game it used to be.
Star Fox fans who wanted only space combat met a role-playing trek instead. Rare's recasting is the history: Dinosaur Planet's bones, Fox's face, and Tricky's commentary.
