History

Fox McCloud leads an Arwing wing in Star Fox, and the Super FX chip draws the on-rails space combat. Slippy, Peppy, and Falco chatter over the radio while Andross's forces fill a corridor the player cannot freely turn around in.

Nintendo and Argonaut shipped that chip-driven flyer in 1993 already. A wingman's shield call is not flavor alone; saving or ignoring a teammate changes how crowded the next trench feels.

It is distinct from the Nintendo 64 follow-up Star Fox 64 and its branching paths. The polygonal Super FX corridors, the Arwing's laser, and this first radio crew belong to the Super Nintendo cartridge.
