Ariel swims and then walks in Capcom's The Little Mermaid, a stage design drawn from Disney's film. Bubbles are her underwater shot, and dry land makes her hop across decks and caves.
Capcom shipped those swimming and walking stages in 1991, with Ursula's film as backdrop rather than a scene-for-scene script. Pearls, eels, and the change of posture between sea and shore carry each course.
This is not the Genesis Little Mermaid, which came from another developer. The two licenses share the film and almost nothing about how Ariel moves.
