History

Construction-site puzzles in Mario vs. Donkey Kong (2004) send Mario after Mini-Mario toys, succeeding the Game Boy Donkey Kong that arrived in 1994 with barrels and girders. Donkey Kong still carries the toys off, and you guide them toward a door.

You time a jump, hit a switch, and guide a line of toys to a door. The older Game Boy game's construction-site bones are still visible under the new toy plot.

It is a puzzle chase more than a barrel-throwing arcade loop. The Mini-Marios are the objective that older single-screen version did not have.
